Not your Grandmas waffles!!!

YOU GUYS!!!!
You're gonna DIE!!!

OK..so thats ONE thing we made...super simple and the kids LOVE THEM! Well so does the Mom but whatever....
I have practically blown my own mind with what I've been able to cook using a waffle maker...and so simple...especially if you're cooking for one or two people. Its like amaze-balls with saving some time!
I love trying new things and I'm not afraid of getting creative and messy in the kitchen....
(this is me and my daughter Tai...she was my iPhone cinematographer and fellow cinnamon roll eater)

NEXT on the list of yummy...

BROWNIE WAFFLES.....oh thats right....you heard me...

So all you need is just a basic box of brownie mix and prepare it as the directions say, EXCEPT DOUBLE THE EGGS....so if says add one egg...add TWO! (trust me...this recipe was a LOT of trial and error...and a lot of swear words)
Your batter should be semi-runny...like waffle batter.
BE sure to SPRAY with cooking spray on every thing every time.
Set timer for 3 minutes and NO PEEKING!
AND WHA-LAH!! Top with a scoop of Ice Cream and instant yummy! I wish I had some fresh strawberries when I made this... or hot fudge!! Imagine that!!?? I see family night treats with the kiddos! Massacred with toppings!!
Below is what happens when you don't add an extra egg...lol...It still tastes good and ended up as ice cream toppings and inside a milk shake....DON'T WASTE STUFF RIGHT???!!

OK NEXT!!
HASH BROWNS!!! BOOM!

First of all...regular shredded hashbrowns are a no go...they just don't cook on a waffle iron....HOWEVER....Tater Tots sure as heck DO! The key to this one is making sure the tots are somewhat thawed out so they can be squished. Spray with cooking spray and throw a handful on the waffle iron. Sprinkle with a little season salt, set the timer for 5 minutes or until crispy.

They are so good and crispy made this way!
If you live in Utah then smother with Ketchup or Fry Sauce!!! And if you don't live in Utah then you should move!! Haha! Kidding...but not really...move here. We could have a sister colony!!

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! (info-mercial)
BACON!!!!

This one is pretty self explanatory....and yet pretty darn delicious!
This cooks for about 4-5 minutes or until crispy....you can keep peeking until you get it just how you like it! Perfect for a quick sandwich!!

DID SOMEONE SAY GARLIC BREAD???
Just a little butter and garlic salt.....2 or 3 minutes and KAZAAM!
(This was my son's fav)

HEALTHY OPTIONS???
I GOT YOU!!!
This is summer squash and Zucchini! These were like 1/4 inch slices.
(if the lid doesn't close...just hold it closed and it will close after a few seconds)
Fresh green beans! Sprinkle your favorite seasoning right on there!
So quick....only took 4 minutes!

WHO DOESN'T LIKE GRILLED PINEAPPLE??? HELLO!?
3 MINUTES!!! YOU'RE WELCOME!!

This next one is a kind of long...but it was the HIT of our trial and error process!!
SOFT PRETZELS!!!
I KNOW!!!! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!! AND THE BACK DOOR!! ALL THE DOORS!

This is a bit of work....however...its worth it. And it makes a big 'ol batch!

You will need:

1 1/2 C Warm Water
2 teaspoon yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
4 1/2 C flour
2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 oz butter (melted)
baking soda (for boiling)

Combine all ingredients except baking soda into stand mixer and combine until dough comes together and is smooth. (not sticky)
Cover and let rise for about an hour somewhere warm.
Punch down the dough and cut into six pieces and let it relax for about 5 minutes on a cookie sheet on parchment.

Roll out each piece into rope form, pretty long about 30 inches.
Shape into pretzel shapes and be sure to pinch the "connection" parts really good.
Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment and let rise for about 30 minutes.

Turn on your waffle maker and bring a pot of about 2 quarts of water to a low boil and add about 3 tablespoons of baking soda to the water. (You can't skip the boiling part...we tried...lol...no bueno)
Slip a pretzel into the water and poach it for 30 seconds and turn it over for another 30 seconds.
Spray your waffle maker with cooking spray.
Remove the waffle from the water (we used a slotted spoon) and place it on the waffle maker.
Close the lid and set timer for 8 minutes.
Sprinkle with salt or cinnamon and sugar right when they come off of the waffle maker. Or a good 'ol SHMEAR of NUTELLA!! ( I made you say Shmear)
I KNOW RIGHT?! You just went blind from that visual of deliciousness?! BAM!
THESE WERE SO SO SO SO GOOD!
(these stay soft in a plastic bag. And they do freeze well)

So I know one question I will get is about cleaning the waffle maker between sweet and salty uses.
My suggestion to you is to get a plastic bristle dish brush just for your waffle maker..and don't be afraid to use some water on it to "steam it" when its hot. So I basically use the brush to "sweep" it out.
I found a "double decker" flip waffle maker at walmart on clearance so we have one side for sweet and one side for salty. I still clean it out after every salty use tho.

I hope you gals enjoyed the post and WAFFLE MANIA!!! As you can see the possibilities are endless with what you can do! We are still trying some things. You should try some too and comment with your results!
I would love your feedback and if there's anything you sissies would like us to post about...TELL US!!!
WE LOVE YOU!!!! DO YOU FEEL IT??!! WE HOPE SO CUZ WE DO!!
