Happiness is your Heritage......

Sister #3 here.... hi!

Are you feeling down? Inadequate? Have a case of the "poor me's"? .... is "Pity Party Peggy?" staring back at you in the mirror?....maybe having a couple of bad days....or just plain feeling crappy about life right now?...(no this is not an info-mercial...haha)

Please believe me when I say I've been there....had those days...had those feelings...found myself sitting on the pity potty....and guess what?...its ok....IT'S OH-KAY! Because WHO hasn't??!?!! Everyone has...everyone does... Everyone WILL....and if they say they don't they are LYING!!!

The problem with this is when WE UNDERVALUE OUR ABILITIES!!!
AND THAT IS NOT OK!!!

Sadly we as women get down on ourselves...we beat ourselves up for not being perfect....being behind on our laundry...apologizing for a burnt dinner...growing a science experiment in our fridge...not exercising today...have a yard full of weeds instead of flowers (hi me!).....eating the whole bag of chocolate.....
not being what "the world" says we should be.
We tend to focus on what is lacking rather than what we HAVE accomplished!!
Sound familiar? I do it...and I bet you do too!

So guess what?
I happen to have the answer....its proven to work....and IMPOSSIBLE to fail. And we are going to work on it TOGETHER!

I have found in my down times.. that when I start to feel better...its because I am doing something else... I have found a purpose of some kind. Not focusing on the bad.. but changing my focus on something other than myself and the situation.
I forgot my purpose during my "Debbie Downer" times.
BECAUSE GUESS WHAT? I THINK I FORGOT WHO I WAS......

This got me thinking.. and searching and reading....so guess what book I happened to come across?

THIS ONE! and its fantastic! Talk about hitting the nail on the head! (FYI it's a free download on to your kindle or kindle app.. or check out your local library..if you really need it I would even mail mine to you to borrow)
I'm going to highlight a few fantastic things that I came across:

The bottom line is ....ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO FEEL DOWN WHEN YOU'RE HELPING SOMEONE ELSE!!!
Creating and Compassion are two things that contribute to happiness.
Creating isn't about being "crafty". In the book it states creativity is "creating something that did not exist before". Think about that.
This paragraph in the book was so good I'm going to share the whole thing exactly.

"You may think you don't have talents, but that is a false assumption, for we all have talents and gifts.
Every one of us.
The bounds of creativity extend far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before---
colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter.
What you create doesn't have to be perfect. So what if the eggs are greasy or the toast is burned? Don't let fear of failure discourage you. Don't let the voice of critics
paralyze you---whether that voice comes from the outside
or the inside.
If you still feel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create write a letter of appreciation; learn a new skill; identify a space and beautify it. This will not only improve the world around you but also the world within you"

HELLO AWESOME-SAUCE RIGHT??!!

Compassion:
"Mourn with those that mourn.....
and comfort those that stand in need of comfort"
Mosiah 18:9

SERVING OTHERS....
FIND THE TIME.... You know you have it....
It doesn't have to be a flippin worldwide Humanitarian project. Keep it realistic...
It can be something as simple as a smile to a stranger or a
small genuine prayer for someone.
Getting your mind focused on others will keep your mind and your heart from wallowing in your own circumstance....whatever that may be. That's freakin' good stuff right there sister!!!
Tell someone they look nice today, send that thank you note you've been meaning to send, make that phone call, send that text, make that bed for someone, leave someone their favorite treat, say thank you, the list of random acts of kindness are honestly ENDLESS. (google it)

Include your family and make cookies together for someone, visit the nursing home together and just talk with someone there you don't even know....you would love that if it was you or your parent. My daughter and I have honestly done this one...and it literally took 20 minutes out of the day..the feeling we had walking out of that building was something we wouldn't change for anything.

Our Your Sister Circle challenge last week was to PAY IT FORWARD!!

Instagram

...this was a huge success and was so wonderful to see all the ways you sisters chose to do it! It was so heartwarming!!
My challenge to you....is to DO IT DAILY!!
NEVER STOP BEING THE GOOD...
LIFT OTHERS..
as you lift others you will rise a little higher yourself...GUARANTEED!

You will feel the difference....there is nothing like the feeling of helping another person....and I mean helping with a true, real and sincere heart. Take that focus off yourself....you will never want to stop!

So if "Boo-Hoo Betsy" is holding you hostage.....Kick her to the curb and say CHIN UP BUTTERCUP!!
Our purpose is.. that we may have JOY!!! So go find it....make your own JOY!! Did you hear me?
MAKE..... YOUR OWN JOY!!!
That's the answer.....

You are a TREASURE....and a great power for good...and you can make YOUR world a better place. NO MORE APOLOGIES!!!

Let's get to work....
I triple dog dare you.

  1. May I just say I love your blog. I ran across your blog because of the post you did on Tara. I love this post. You know I often get irritated picking up after my family for the thousandth time or washing the dishes or putting the clothes in the hamper two feet away. But I forget that those things are serving too, serving my family. If I can remember that I do service everyday of my life it gives me a better attitude while I work.
