A Christmas Wish.....

Can you remember as a child the magic of Christmas?

...waiting for the long December month to come closer to the end... Everyday felt like an eternity.... Would Christmas ever come?

The anticipation was filled with wonder and excitement!
There was something in the air...

Do you remember that?
You could feel it.

It felt almost tangible..

I think it was
peace on earth, good will to men!

You could see it in peoples eyes.

Everyone helping one another, giving gifts from the heart,
singing carols and
 loving each other.

It was the Spirit of Christ!
That is why it felt so good..

As we get older that "Christmas magic" can fade away or feel heavy because of the responsibilities that are upon us

but I think we can get it back.

I know we can get it back with a few questions...

WHO ARE WE CELEBRATING?
What is our focus?
Where is our hearts?

Let us reflect on what truly matters during the Christmas Season.
The babe wrapped in swaddling clothes
lying  in a manger.

A Manger.

Not a palace, or an Inn, or a home...

but a manger....
Where animals lived.

We know that there was no room for Him in the Inn...

But my question is ...do we have room in our hearts?
Room for Him?

Or is it filled with the hustle and bustle of the season?
with burdens?
Heavy hearts and worry?
Resentment?
Grief and pain?

Can I offer a suggestion....

LET HIM IN.
Let HIM heal you!
HE has come to this world to SAVE us!
To heal us! To help and heal our heavy over-worked hearts.

This Christmas morning I have a challenge for you.
Gather your family around the Christmas tree and before the craziness breaks loose of opening those presents...

Bow your heads and thank your
Heavenly Father for the blessing of His Son!
For his Sacrifice.

He is our Advocate. Our Deliverer. Our Savior.

He was sent to Redeem us.
To help us become our best self.
He is our everything.

We should have gratitude in all things..

As we allow HIS Spirit to permeate our heart and homes we shall have a magical Christmas indeed.

After all, it is not about the presents
but about HIS PRESENCE in our lives!

That is our Christmas Wish to you all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Sister Scribble

When I first saw the movie The Polar Express, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like it. I thought the train guy was scary, Santa seemed weird. It just didn't give me the warm fuzzy Christmas feeling. But as I watched it more and more, it really does have a great message.

Christmas lies in your heart.

Love you all!

He is the Gift....

Hey Ya'll.... Sista #3 here...

Just wanted to share a little tidbit of CHRISTMAS FEELS with ya...

My Dad sent an email to us last night from some friends of theirs that are on an LDS mission...
There was a part of it that made my eyes leak...  I felt so grateful and blessed for everything I have and everything I have ever experienced in my life.......

Here's part of the letter....

"At the end of the conference, The mission president handed out all of the Christmas packages from home and the ones we put together for the Jamaican elders.  We handed a wrapped present to a Jamaican elder and he put it on his lap.  I watched as tears formed in his eyes.  He put his hands over his face and started shaking and openly weeping.  I asked him if there was a problem and he said that he has never had a wrapped present before.  I told him to open it up and see what it contained.   He cried and cried then slowly opened the package.  When he saw the few items we gave him (body wash, deodorant, socks, ties, candy and other items) he really started crying.  I had to hug him.  Aren't we blessed with so much.  I've seen kids at home get so  much that they asked if they could quit opening presents.  What a lesson on gratitude this young Jamaican elder taught me this week."

Just think about that...."he said that he has never had a wrapped present before".. And he was so grateful for it that he openly wept!!!

My guess is if you're reading this... you've never NOT opened up a wrapped present before.
We are so incredibly blessed in our lives...even if we have very little...or are struggling financially....we still have so much to be thankful for!!!
I haven't had the best Christmas spirit this year... but after reading that letter I realized I haven't been very good at focusing on my blessings...and the TRUE gift I have been given. (He wasn't wrapped either...haha)
I found my Christmas...

Enjoy the video..... :)

Nativity Scene Awesomeness!

What a wonderful start to a weekend.....

Recently a collaboration of talents came together
in creating the largest Nativity Scene

How wonderful that they have come together
to make such a moving and inspiring tribute
to the Savior during this Christmas Season.

We had to share too!

Family time is EVERYTHING!

Yesterday was amazing for me.
It was a reflection kind of day.

First off it was Fast Sunday....
We were asked at our ward party Friday to fast for a lady
in our ward who got seriously injured at a Thanksgiving parade by a horse.
She is now in a medical induced coma.
She still has children at home and a loving husband.
Now even though I don't know her personally because I still feel so new to this ward,
I was determined to do this for her and her family.
I had some personal reasons that I wanted to fast also.
So I was anxious to do it and even put it on my calendar because I'm so forgetful.

So got to church and we had a wonderful testimony meeting. I was on the verge of
uncontrollable crying anyway, but then that husband got up to bear his testimony.
He reminded husbands how important it was to tell your wives everyday how much you love them, and ALWAYS remember to open their doors for them.
To make them feel special and loved.
We should never forget how things can change in an instant.

My heart ached for him and his children.
But I knew the way I could help him was to keep fasting. I knew they needed the extra blessings and prayers. This time of year is all about families and being together, and their mom is in the hospital.
I will also put her name in the temple tomorrow.

We then had tithing settlement with our bishop.
He is such a wonderful person.
The best bishop my kids could have. He cares about each and every one of us.
He said something during our meeting and I lit up.
Tithing is the one thing we can be perfect at!
We are imperfect people but we can be perfect at that for HIM.
I enjoyed that statement.

Then later that evening my husband gave the best Family Home Evening.
Is was about spending time together, as a family.
As our kids are getting older, we are realizing how important this really is.

When you have young kids, you just can't wait for them to get older. But now that they are older,  we wish they were all small again.

Justin got a job recently and is turning 18 next year. His job takes him away from his family.
Although I know it's a part of life, he misses certain family things. And once he goes on his mission, life will never be the same.

I really don't have a lot of time to savor these moments in my life.
I'm determined to make the most of it.
Taking all the time I can get.
Making time, even if it's watching a movie all together.
I need to let them know that they are what's most important, and I'm willing to give them my time. Even though they are annoying teenagers at times, I won't let them hibernate in the basement.
(They WILL watch ELF with me whether they like it or not)

FAMILY TIME IS SACRED TIME AND SHOULD BE PROTECTED AND RESPECTED.

I LOVE MY FAMILY!
The End.

SISTER HIGHLIGHT!!!

It's a special sister highlight today....

“For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed."
Luke 1:46–48

Mary, the mother of the Jesus,  lived in humble circumstances on this earth...
she wasn't wealthy or entitled in this life...
She was not shielded from pains or heartache ....Mary knew the hardships, disappointments and struggles that we all know...yet she was worthy to be the mother of the Son of God.... and she was most privileged among women...

Could you imagine having an angel come
and ask you to be His mother?
Have  you ever wondered what she was thinking? How she must have felt? and yet there is only one answer in the scriptures that can tell us a little about who she is....

"Behold,  the handmaid of the Lord:
be it unto me according to thy word."
Luke 1:38

and again is verse 46 & 47:
"My soul doth magnify the Lord. An my Spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior."

What faith she must have had!!! What hope for the Christ child. She was taught her whole life that a Savior would come and now she was asked to be apart of His great work.

....talk about humbling!

COULD YOU HAVE DONE IT???
Raised the Son of God??

You can tell by one scripture (mentioned above) that Mary was
obedient and faithful...

...she lived her life to be receptive to the promptings of the Spirit..

 ...to do Gods will.

She was full of charity.

Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone’s differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn’t handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another’s weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other.

SISTER SCRIBBLE

Amie sent me the SS today, and it fit perfectly with what I had in mind of blogging today.
in church three weeks ago, they talked about a challenge they were giving to the members in our stake.
for the whole month of December they wanted a member from every ward at the temple at all times.
they had time slots to fill in.
They were all filled up by the time Amie and I got the paper.
There was great blessings in store for those who participated. Amie and I decided that we were going to do it on our own......:)
Our gift to Christ this December would be dedicating one day a week from then til Christmas we will go to the Temple.
.
.
.
.

There is plenty of time left to go 4+ times this month......
Who is up for the Challenge with us?
Our lives ARE busy.......so what can we cut out to make time?
:)
LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!
Love this time of year....
Contact us if you wanna meet up....Amie and I usually go to the Ogden Temple, early morning about 8:00/8:30 on Tuesdays.{except we are going tomorrow}
xoxo!!!

are you with me?.....

"tis the season to be....."

As I am sitting here listening to Christmas music,
my mind turns to why I love this holiday season.

There are many reasons why the holiday's are so special.
And each of us have special feelings
towards Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Instead of doing a sister highlight
I thought it would be fun if you highlighted yourself.

And what I mean by that is....
I have a challenge.
Lets start of this Holiday Season right!
with GRATITUDE.

What do you think of when you hear the word....

THANKFUL...

Have you ever thought about what you are thankful for?
I mean really thought about it in a very sincere way.

I am sure you have heard about
doing a gratitude journal...

It can change the way we see our world around us.
It can actually change your life.
In fact it can change you in ways
you never thought was possible.
Would you give it a try?

I even bought a special journal just to begin!!

Every day you can write what ever you are thankful for.
What are your GRATEFUL for today?
What happened in my day that I saw the
Hand of the Lord in my life?

Below are some prompts to help you begin....
I do feel so deeply that we can have a wondrous holiday season if we but look outside of ourselves....
see what blessings the Lord has bestowed down upon each of us.
I think we would be amazed...

“Cultivate an attitude of happiness. Cultivate a spirit of optimism. Walk with Faith, rejoicing in the beauties of nature, in the goodness of those you love, in the testimony which you carry in your heart concerning things divine.” Gordon B. Hinckley

*How has God blessed me today?
* I am a strong, positive, healthy loving woman of faith.
Today I seek Peace.
When times are hard, I will righteously hang on.
I will prepare for tomorrow by working today.
Today I will use my energy to improve someone’s life.

“Press forward with a steadfastness in Christ.”
I will be grateful for this day.
Everything is going to be okay. Breathe. Smile.
Laughter is good for my health.
Practice makes progress.
Today I will practice using my calm voice.

There is always HOPE.
Kindness inspires Kindness.
Today I will do what is right, not what is easy.
I am strong and can do hard things.
Always be nicer than you feel.
Keep Moving Forward!
Today I will think of others & serve!
Onward ever Onward.

“The Lord is my light, then why should I fear?”
These times are hard, but they will pass.
Today I will stop holding on to what hurts and make room for forgiveness.
Recite a scripture.
“Arise & Shine Forth.”
I teach others by my attitude.

“It is better to look up!” Thomas S. Monson
Hum a hymn.
Today I will thank someone.
I am meant to be brave.
The Lord is aware of me.
Today I will give the gift of time!
Live in Faith!

Sister Scribble

Sister Bonnie D. Parkin noted that gratitude is a Spirit-filled principle.
Gratitude indeed illuminates the fact that we are surrounded by God's miracles.
Living in gratitude, we develop a keen sense of the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Wonders, miracles, and acts of kindness can be found in each moment of our lives.
Recognize your Blessing Basket!
Acknowledge blessings to yourself, to you Heavenly Father, and to your family.

CABIN "fever"

The last four weeks
for our family has been a wild whirlwind!
We've been blogging and posting quite a bit about the recent purchase of a property in Bear Lake County

The property is located at the

new cabin that we
will call our 2nd home for
many many years to come.

There are five families involved with the purchase
and although it might seem kinda "cray cray"
and impossible to work together...we are doing it!
We are making it happen! #giveandtake

A few pictures to share the progress.....
