HUGS TIMES FIVE....

A BIG SHOUT OUT!

Your Sister Circle
{along with KDesigns }

We had the privilege of designing a
Business Logo
for SALLY LUNDGREEN

We are excited to give a SHOUT OUT for her!!!
I asked her to share in her own words a little about herself, her family and her business.

A few years ago (less than 4...does that make it "a few?")

I found a little cabinet at the DI. My sweet husband (who's HOT, by the way) bought it for me and I started painting it.
Not knowing what I was doing, I just played around with different techniques.
I guess I got hooked....both on painting and on the DI.
I started buying little pieces and painting them.

Soon, however, I ran out of places to put them and decided to have a furniture sale.
 I sold almost everything and oddly enough, I didn't get bored making things.

 Shortly after that, we converted a room in our basement into my craft room and off I went.

I was recently asked to showcase some of my things at a
 GORGEOUS full-service salon in Farr West called Vivid Hair Company.
{1812 N. 2000 W. Farr West, UT, USA}

 Since then I have been getting so many requests for pieces, that I can't keep up.
I figured it was time to make that BIG leap of faith and turn this in to a business.

Though I work full time, outside the home, I spend time every day making something.
 I love the quote by President Uchtdorf, you all know the one:

"The desire to create is one of the
deepest yearnings of the human soul.
No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities,
  we each have an inherent wish
to create something that did not exist before.
 Everyone can create.
You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty.
You might say, I am not the creative type.
 If that is how you feel, think again.
Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small.  Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano.
Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you.
You will make the World a better place.

Improve, beautify, extend,
smile, cultivate, develop, create."

 A picture of my family right after we were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple!
 I married my best friend, Doug, almost 17 years ago.
 We have 3 girls and....gasp....I have a 3 year-old granddaughter. We were sealed for time and eternity on August 10th, 2013...incredible memories, amazing journey).

 I love making friends. I have always had a strong group of girlfriends and LOVE the women in my life.

What is your favorite quote?
(super fantastic!!)

Tell us one person that inspires you and why?
Wow, to pick just ONE! I will have to go with my Mother. She inspires me daily, and has taught me the most by the way she lives her life and the example she sets for me and all that are around her. She is in her mid 80's a platinum blonde, dresses to the 9's at all times, hosts the most amazing dinners and parties. Decorates for every holiday and never forgets a birthday. My Mom serves in her Church and her community, she's the most Christ-like person I know, she's always doing something for someone in her neighborhood, church or friends. At 85 she is current, keeps up with her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. My Mom has lots of amazing friendships, she has lunch once a month with women she has been friends with since Kindergarten! She also has a group of friends they call each other the "classy ladies" they go on theme based trips, wear clothing and decorate around the theme. Last year they went to Vegas where they saw Donny & Marie & My Mom won $500 on the Price is Right! I love my Mom's love for life, positive outlook, generous heart and sense of humor. One day I hope to be like her and strive to be each day!

Please feel free to tell us anything you feel like sharing!
I feel so lucky that I am a Mother I love my 4 children more than words. I love the job that I get to do, I love to create everyday. I love the amazing women I have gotten to meet all over the world, either teaching or on line. I am so inspired by all of you creative, inspiring women who are a positive influence on me, supportive, uplifting and inspiring.

Don't you just wanna wear her like a scarf??!!

We're tellin' you she is an absolute force for everything GOOD!
Get.. to know... this lady!!!

Thanks Margie!! We love your face!

AND UP NEXT!!!!
The ever talented and sweetest lady.....

What is your favorite treat?
I love super long Nibs, have you tried them, so good!  You'll never go back to eating Twizzlers or a small pack of Nibs again. My weakness is a big slice of Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting smothered all over the top, heaven right there!

What is your favorite color?
Oh, I adore color!  It really inspires me everyday. It's hard to pick just one but right now it's.... Turquoise

Tell us one of your unique talents?
I'm pretty boring when it comes to this I guess.... I can pop my gum, inside my mouth between my teeth, so I guess that's something.  My favorite gum is Orbit Sweet Mint by the way.

What is your favorite quote?
People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care! (love it!!)

Tell us one person that inspires you and why?
Oh, my gosh that's a hard question for me to answer.  I can't think of just one person. There are so many incredible people that I admire for so many different reasons.  Grateful I guess that I have so many amazing people in my life to learn from & be inspired by.

Please feel free to tell us anything you feel like sharing!
I am a wife to a terrific guy that I am still smitten with after 19 years & mother to 3 amazing girls, I am very blessed. I love sports & always have.  I'm a Cougar fan in the Fall {GO BYU!} & in the Winter my devilish side comes out & I cheer for Duke.  I enjoy baking, I have an Owl cookie jar named Hector, & quite a cake stand collection.  That should tell you how often I am in the kitchen whipping up a batch of cookies or baking a cake.
One of my philosophies in life is.. "Everything looks better on a cake stand" (i want this tattooed on my forehead -Kristi)  That can include just about anything & tells you a lot about my decorating style.  I love to entertain!  It's such a creative process for me & something that I adore.  I'm also passionate about decorating.  I love to use antiques & vintage things that inspire me to decorate our home with.  I have a vintage pop bottle collection & chicken feeder that I consider some of my most prized possessions.  I create products for my business, Hollyhocks & Honeybees out of craft studio on Lilac Lane.  I host a boutique, in our home, 3 times a year called, The Hive {P.S. you're all invited! September 18, 19 & 20th} I enjoy writing on my blog, Hollyhocks & Honeybees, & sharing simple everyday things, inspiration & ideas with my readers.  I'm also excited to announce that I've teamed up with a cute friend of mine to launch a new business called, TaDa Home Decor, that's launching in June that combines many of my passions.  I've thrilled to be a part of it & excited to see where it all goes.  Friends are the best!  So grateful for the sweet friends in my life that I have meet in person, through my blog, business & here on Instagram.  They all are truly a blessing in my life.  So glad I was brave enough one day {years ago!} to leave a comment on Annie's blog (sister #5) because a friendship bloomed that would have never otherwise, right cute friend? All of us need to be brave, put ourselves out there a bit, stretch ourselves & see what rewards we find once we do.  It's always a scary thing to do sometimes but always worth it.  Thank you Sisters for putting together such a wonderful network for us all to help, love & be inspired by one another.

GEEZ!! DON'T YOU JUST WANNA MOVE IN WITH HER???!!
Sincerely Sweet and so super talented!! Send her a HELLO!
Thank you Melissa!!
WE LOVE YOU!!

Can't wait until next week to see who else we get to meet!!

No more excuses....START TODAY!!

Oh Sisters....Oh sisters.....
As I have reflected on my last week
{WONDERFUL stressful week, sister number 5 here and we are FINALLY in our HOUSE}
I have found myself excuse after excuse, WHEN I get organized I will.....
WHEN I get this room unpacked I will......
As soon as I.......
After we.......
Yada Yada Yada!
.
Its been a month of not reading my daily scriptures.
Inconstant prayers......they kinda just fly around here and there.
And my temple attendance out of WACK!
.
.
I felt so in control when my spirituality is on the MONEY!
I was talking to sister #3 {Hi Kristi} last night and she said Satan has been working on her like crazy.
She said she ALWAYS knows when she is on the right track, Satan likes to remind her.....thanks Satan. Props to you, you help us KNOW we are on the right track!
When you do GOOD......it freaks Satan out,{he gets all crazy and stuff, I wonder if his arms flail around ?} he will do what he can to try and ruin AND destroy GOOD!
Her WORDS spoke right to my heart....my throat swelled up and tears flooded my eyes cuz she spoke TRUTH!
.
She said no more excuses......the day to start is TODAY!
Christ forgives 90 million times.....and he would say the same thing.
"The best time to start is now"
If we mess up-------he would say again, "its ok, just start over.... start now"
Look at your life----in ALL the areas.....?
No more excuses.....start NOW!  its ok!  Just start......
.
.
Family prayers are started back up.
Scripture study is up and going!
I made Temple arrangements......
I know we have protection by doing these things.
They are promised to US!
I am living proof that his perfect plan for us is real..........
.
.
STARTING today!
DONE!
WA-LA!
WHOOHOO!
.
.
A quick Thursday message........the end!
xoxo!

Sissy HIGHlights

Woweee Your Sister Circle Readers
 You are in for a treat today I tell ya!

It's Sissy HIGHlight Friday!

First up is Stephanie!

"Hi Stephanie!!"
{and hello to those gorgeous blue eyes}

What is your full name?
It's kinda long. Stephanie Victoria Davis Romney

What is your Instagram user name?
@stuphfromsteph
Instagram

Where do you live?
I call Mesa, Arizona my home town. I was born here. So were my parents and grandparents and all four of my children.
What is your favorite treat?
I am a chips and salsa girl {right on!!} through and through (always with a dirty diet coke!)

What is your favorite color?
Well --- that depends. I like red cars. I like pink nails. I like white kitchens.  People say I look good in blue/aqua.  Oh, and bling. Bling is another of my favorite colors...and cheetah, too.
{ha ha, it's so great that her favorite colors include Bling and Cheetah! HA!}

Tell us one of your unique talents?
I love music. Playing the organ and piano are my favorite callings.  I also sew. A lot.  Making quilts is relatively cheap therapy. I wish I knew how many different states and countries around the world are home to the baby items I make - burp cloths and swaddling blankets. {this is awesome!}

What is your favorite quote?
Everything will be okay in the end. if it's not okay --- it's not the end!!
{Oh, sweet I have that quote in my office at work! - nice choice}

Tell us one person that inspires you and why?
That would be my sweet husband who has borne with patience a  health trial that has lasted (so far) nine and a half years. I often ask myself if I would be as faithful and nice as he has been if I were in his shoes. The answer is no --- I probably wouldn't.  He is earning his crown in heaven and I better work my tail off so I can be there with him someday!

Do you have any feedback or ideas for "Your Sister Circle"?
I think you guys are pretty awesome! thanks for all the fun, uplifting sharing you do.

Tell us anything you feel like sharing!

I also would like to mention my husband, Bill and I, have been married for 35 years and our greatest blessings are:

Our children: Amber, Amanda, Amelia, and Drew
their spouses: Chris, Brent, Tyler, and Jessalyn
and our darling grandkids: Addison, Halleigh, Tate, Tagg, Elliott, Cameron, Tallie, Colby and Hayden (#10 on the way June 10th)

What a beautiful family! That truly is a
picture of  precious BLESSINGS!

Stephanie -- Thanks for sharing with us and blessing our lives with your goodness!
Don't ya just LOVE HER?!?!

And NEXT
IS

Diana from South Africa!!!
{do you go on safari's?  I've always wanted to go on a safari}

"Hi Beautiful Diana!!!"

What is your full name?

Diana Kingma

What is your Instagram user name?

@Dianaki5

 Instagram

Where do you live?

In Gauteng South Africa for about my whole life. Before that I’ve lived in Namibia for 10 years.
{How cool is this??}

What is your favorite treat?

Lots and lots of anything with chocolate. Hi...my name is Diana and I am a chocolate addict. I also love some of our traditional foods like a “lekker Braai” (Barbeque) nice meat with normally a potato salad or warm potato bake and lots of other salads and garlic bread. I also love trifle. I am a food lover.

What is your favorite color?

Pink and purple, but not to wear, I just love those colours, my cutex, lipstics, shampoo etc. are all in those colours. (the colour of the bottle, not the contents)

Tell us one of your unique talents?

I love to eat; does that count? He he!! All funniness aside, I think I am a kind soul. I am a good listener, I forgive easy, I tend to see the good in all people which makes me a softie, people see that and take advantage of my goodness. I am NOT a good homemaker but I am a clean freak. I am more of an arty person. Oh yes, I am good with make up (I think) I love to do my daughter’s make up when she has dance shows, I looovvveeee glitter, false eyelashes etc, but not on myself, I live it out on Chloe’ (@chloe_pie15). I am also a cat lady, love my cats.

{oooo, sissy #5 is a cat lady too}

What is your favorite quote?

I have a few;

 “Stop seeking the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight”- Gordon B. Hinckley

‘Whatever you do do well. Be good at it.
Stand a little taller. Be a little stronger. Be a little better.’
Gordon B. Hinckley.

And then I have some in my home language which is Afrikaans; {so COOL}
 “Waar daar n rokie trek is daar n vuurtjie” directly translated it means “where there is smoke there normally is a fire”, which means if stories goes around there most likely are truth to it.

Tell us one person that inspires you and why?

 My Savior Jesus Christ. I am humbled by his love, kindness and patience with me(us). He is such an inspiration and great example to me. He was willing to die for me so that I can live with my Heavenly Father again someday.

My husband -   What a wonderful husband and father he is to me and my children. He is a hard worker with so much love for me and the children, he has patience and a kind heart. His whole life is for our happiness. He is my pillar of strength.

My children – to see their strength and faith, to see their goodness towards others and their love for their parents. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family, I sometimes think, I don’t deserve this, they are so good to me, Heavenly Father is so good to me, I love Him dearly.

Do you have any feedback or ideas for "Your Sister Circle"?

You are doing such a perfect job!! Thank you for inspiring me to be a better person. I am so happy to have met you on Instagram, I love you all.

Tell us anything you feel like sharing!
{hold on to your South African hats folks}

I testify that our heavenly Father cares for each and every one of his children, I also testify that Miracles still happen today.

My eldest son got Marfan syndrome. It is a syndrome that attacks the tissue that is holding all the muscles together. The biggest problem is his heart, especially the aorta root. Brent had an enlarged root of 5.5 cm and was in need of an aorta replacement as well as an aorta valve replacement. We opted for the saving of his own valve,  we didn’t want him to be on blood thinners for the rest of his life, he is still so young. We couldn’t do the operation in South Africa because it wasn’t done on a regular basis and with that specific operation we needed somebody with expertise, it was a very delicate operation.

In December 2012 we went to America where they did open heart surgery on him. Everything went well according to the Doctors and we stayed another week just to make sure he was ok. Brent didn’t look too well and was very tired. On our flight back home he couldn’t eat and was very nauseous. Three days after we arrived back home we were swimming, it was extremely hot; we were in the middle of summer and pool was a pleasant almost warm temperature, but Brent didn’t want to swim, it was too cold for him. We didn’t think anything of it and thought it was because of the surgery. The next day he walked to our neighbor to visit his friend. We received a phone call from our very distressed friend and she said that Brent had collapsed and we have to come urgently.

 My husband ran over very worried and came back in shock. Luckily I had the car ready and we were all ready to go. We went over to my neighbor where my husband came out carrying my son in his arms, an image I will never forget in my entire life. Brent was a transparent white color, his eyes were almost black and it stared at me almost looking like he didn’t recognize us. Luckily for us it was still school holidays and there was almost no traffic to the hospital. All the robots changed to green and all the cars moved out of the way, my husband did some low flying driving there.

When we got to the emergency care unit of the Hospital there was a heart surgeon on duty as well as heart specialist. (They were on skeleton staff as most of the people were away) After several testing and extreme pain from my son they saw that his aorta had ruptured where they did the stitches from the previous surgery and he was bleeding internally. The surgeon also noticed from the CT scan we brought with us that Brent was leaking blood while he was still in Hospital from previous surgery.  Because of his deep pectus excavatum his heart was not in the normal position and did he bleed to the other side. If he bled to the right side he would have died within 10 minutes. Brent received a blessing and they rushed him to theatre at 6pm in the afternoon. Most of our ward’s friends were there and they sat with us during the whole operation which went on till 4am the next morning. The Surgeon came back and told us that it was the most difficult operation he had ever done. They had to remove the whole root plus valve from previous surgery, there was no time to try to save it; Brent was losing too much blood.

Two hours before Brent had to go in for surgery, a lady came in with a fatal gunshot to the head. Unfortunately she died of the wounds (I read Brent’ s file and spoke to the sisters on duty) . She was a donor of the aortic root and valve. It was a perfect match to Brent and they could use her root and valve to save Brent’s life.

I made a list of all the blessings we’ve received during that time. From the time we went to America till after his life savings surgery, I’ve counted 25 blessings (miracles) in total. We are so grateful to our Heavenly Father for protecting Brent during this time. I am humbled and in awe for His kindness and compassion. There were so many things that could have gone wrong, but it didn’t, and I know it was by the grace of God that he survived the surgery. Less than 3 percent of people survive a rapture of the aorta root.

{Holy South African Buffalo --- Anyone got a tissue? Sheesh......

What a beautiful beautiful story!
Diana, thank you for sharing yourself with us today.  I know you have touched a sister heart or two by your story of miracles.

 Isn't this just the best?
Hope you enjoyed Sissy Highlights today!

Who will be next?
It's pretty exciting to think about the possibilities....
WE LOVE YOU SISTERS!!!
